I like stories. Here’s mine.
I write to help non-profit and cause-driven organizations make their incredible stories known so donors can’t help but take action. It’s the heart and soul of my work. I love that words have the power to spark positive change.
Born and raised in the big city of Chicago, my interest and work in humanitarian causes has led my family and I around the world—from living in Africa to moving to Europe to settling in New Zealand. It’s been a wild ride (quite literally at times…flashback to many bumpy 4x4 rides), but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I enjoy finding creative ways to tell your one-of-a-kind stories and inspire your supporters to make this world a little better than they found it. When I’m not typing away on my laptop, you’ll find me creating imaginary LEGO worlds with our son, out on a hike, cozied up with a good book, or whipping something (usually sweet and chocolate-y!) up in the kitchen.
● 15 years of hands-on experience in copywriting, fundraising, and content marketing for NPOs, NGOs, and UN agencies.
● Master’s Degree in International Development plus field experience means I understand your day-to-day work—challenges and all!
● A full-blown travel junkie! Have lived and worked across four continents and love exploring new countries.
● Lover of good books, (all) wine, my super-soft bed, and anything that grants me the sweetest hugs and kisses from the two little humans that live with us!
It all started as a young twenty-something girl on a year-long trip around the world. Volunteering introduced me to many incredible, everyday heroes working hard to improve people’s circumstances. Returning home, I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted my work to count for something.
I grabbed hold of an opportunity to go to Ethiopia and Kenya with an NGO where I discovered my knack for writing met a real need. Traveling around East Africa to capture people’s stories was thrilling and humbling.
After taking a break for a little event called…MY WEDDING!…I moved to Switzerland with my fellow traveller-at-heart and cheese-enthusiast husband. While working on my M.A. in International Development, I wrote articles, website copy, and more for several organizations, like this one.
I joined the humanitarian organization, Medair, as the Social Media Officer. In 2014, I became the Digital Content Editor and worked on campaigns like this one until 2018, when I decided to refocus exclusively on my first love—writing—as their Marketing Copywriter.
My family and I decided to shake things up, start a new adventure, and move back to where it all began for us—New Zealand. That is where you’ll find me now using more than a decade of knowledge gathered to help you make your mark on the world….and often on beaches like this one!
